Mevacor? Mevacore is a common misspelling of Mevacor.
Mevacor® (lovastatin) is approved to treat several conditions associated with heart disease, such as high cholesterol. This prescription medication belongs to a group of medications known as statins, and works by blocking a particular enzyme that controls the rate of cholesterol production in the body. As a result, Mevacor causes the liver to produce less cholesterol. This prescription medication comes in the form of a tablet, and is typically taken with the evening meal. Possible side effects include gas, headaches, and diarrhea.
