Mevacor Side Effects to Report
Some side effects with
Mevacor, while infrequent, are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
- Signs of liver damage, such as:
- Muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if you also have a fever or feel ill, since these may be signs of serious breakdown of muscle, known as rhabdomyolysis (see Mevacor and Muscle Pain)
- Significant, unexplained changes in the amount of urine you produce (which may be a sign of kidney problems)
- Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
- A rash
- Itching
- Hives
- Wheezing or difficulty breathing
- Swelling of the mouth, tongue, or throat.
Rare Side Effects of Mevacor
During clinical studies, some side effects occurred in less than 1 percent of people while they were taking Mevacor. Because these side effects are so uncommon, it is difficult to tell whether they are because of the medication or something else.
Some of these possible side effects of Mevacor include but are not limited to:
- Leg pain
- Insomnia
- Hair loss
- Dry mouth
- Vomiting.
Other rare side effects have been reported in people taking
statins, which is the class of medicine that Mevacor is part of. These side effects were not necessarily reported with Mevacor. They include:
