Who Should Not Use Tinzaparin?

You should avoid tinzaparin if you:

  • Have active major bleeding.
  • Have ever had heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT).
  • Are allergic to heparin, pork products, sulfites, or benzyl alcohol.
  • Are 90 years old or older.
  • Have poorly functioning kidneys (this is determined by a blood test).

Final Thoughts

There are a number of situations in which tinzaparin should not be used, as well as several safety concerns people should be aware of before starting treatment. However, it is possible that not all of these issues were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your healthcare provider about the specific warnings and precautions with tinzaparin that may apply to you.
