Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
Combining NSAIDs with prednisone can increase your risk of gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
 
Phenytoin (Dilantin, Phenytek) or Fosphenytoin (Cerebyx)
Phenytoin or fosphenytoin may decrease the level of prednisone in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. If you are taking these drugs together, your healthcare provider may need to increase your prednisone dosage.
 
Rifamycin Antibiotics
Rifamycin antibiotics may decrease the level of prednisone in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. If you are taking these drugs together, your healthcare provider may need to increase your prednisone dosage.
 
Salicylates
Combining salicylates with prednisone can increase your risk of gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
 
Warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven)
Prednisone can affect the way your body handles warfarin. Your healthcare provider should monitor you closely and adjust your warfarin dosage as necessary.
