The recommended dose of palonosetron to prevent nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy is 0.25 mg, given by IV about 30 minutes before starting chemotherapy or one palonosetron 0.5 mg capsule taken by mouth one hour before chemotherapy.

Considerations for people taking palonosetron include the following:
- The medication comes in injectable and capsule form. The IV form is given by IV (intravenously) about 30 minutes before chemotherapy, while the capsule form is taken by mouth one hour before chemotherapy. For surgery, the IV form is given just before anesthesia is started.
Palonosetron should not be mixed with other medications in an IV.
