Ipratropium bromide (Atrovent®) is a prescription medication that comes in the following forms:
The only ipratropium product approved to treat a runny nose is ipratropium nasal spray (Atrovent® nasal spray). This product is licensed to treat a runny nose due to the following conditions:
  • The common cold
  • Allergies, including seasonal or year-round allergies
  • Year-round, nonallergic nasal symptoms.
The other formulations of ipratropium are approved for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
