Drugs Home > Ambrisentan Drug Information

If you are an adult with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), your healthcare provider may recommend a medication called ambrisentan (Letairis®). This medicine can help improve your ability to exercise, as well as slow down the progression of the condition.
Although most people who use ambrisentan tolerate it fairly well, side effects are possible. Some of the potential side effects include swelling, nasal congestion, and inflamed sinuses. Fortunately, most reactions to the medicine tend to be mild and easy to treat.
While this drug can be effective at treating PAH, ambrisentan is not appropriate for everyone. The drug's safety information should be reviewed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize your risk for certain complications. This includes warnings for people who have anemia, those with scarring of the lungs, or women who are pregnant or nursing.
