Desonide lotion (
DesOwen®) is a prescription skin medication that comes in the form of a lotion. It belongs to a group of medications known as topical steroids and is used to treat inflammation and itching due to a wide variety of skin conditions, such as eczema,
psoriasis, dermatitis, and allergic reactions.
Just like any medicine, desonide lotion may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
Common side effects of desonide lotion include but are not limited to:
- Stinging and burning
- Irritation
- Contact dermatitis (an itchy red rash caused by direct contact with an irritating substance).
