Desloratadine is used to treat seasonal and indoor allergy symptoms, as well as chronic hives and itching. Among the symptoms that it helps relieve are sneezing; runny nose; and itchy, watery eyes. Some of the indoor allergens that the medication is effective against include house dust, cockroaches, and animals.

What Is Desloratadine?

Desloratadine (Clarinex®) is a prescription medication used to treat allergies and hives. It is part of a class of medicines called antihistamines. This drug is also available with a decongestant, under the brand name Clarinex-D®.

What Is Desloratadine Used For?

This medicine has been licensed for several uses, including:
  • Treatment of chronic (long-term) hives and itching (known medically as chronic urticaria).
