Drugs Home > Side Effects of Colestipol
During clinical trials, some side effects occurred infrequently in people taking colestipol. Because these side effects were so rare, it is difficult to tell whether they were actually caused by colestipol or by something else. These possible rare colestipol side effects include but are not limited to:
- Unexplained blood in the stool
- Ulcer in the stomach or intestines (known as a peptic ulcer)
- Increase in liver enzymes
- Unexplained rash
- Itchy skin
- Muscle aches or pain
- Joint pain
- Migraine or other headache
- Decreased appetite.
You may experience some or none of the side effects of colestipol listed in this article. There is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have a side effect from a medicine that you have never tried. Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any side effects while taking the drug or if something "just does not seem right." While it may not be a side effect of colestipol, he or she will be able to diagnose and treat the problem.
