What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?

If you forget to take your cetirizine dose, take your missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.

Who Makes Cetirizine?

Brand-name cetirizine, sold under the name Zyrtec, is made by McNeil Consumer Healthcare. Generic versions of the drug are made by various manufacturers (click Generic Zyrtec for more information).

Strengths of Cetirizine

Cetirizine comes in the following strengths and forms:
  • Cetirizine 5 mg tablets
  • Cetirizine 10 mg tablets
  • Cetirizine 10 mg liquid-filled capsules (available in brand-name form only)
  • Children's cetirizine 5 mg chewable tablets
  • Children's cetirizine 10 mg chewable tablets
  • Children's cetirizine syrup, 1 mg per mL (5 mg per teaspoonful).
