Drugs Home > Belatacept and Liver Transplant

Although belatacept (NULOJIX®) can be an effective medicine for preventing organ rejection in people who receive a kidney transplant, it can be potentially dangerous for people who have a liver transplant. Belatacept use in people who receive this type of transplant can increase the risk of transplant failure and even death. Therefore, belatacept should not be used to prevent transplant rejection after a liver transplant.
To help minimize your risk for complications, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other medications you are taking and any allergies you may have before beginning treatment with belatacept.
