Loratadine Tablets

Loratadine (Claritin®) is an over-the-counter medication approved for the treatment of common allergy symptoms, such as runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, sneezing, and nasal or throat itching. It is also licensed to alleviate itching due to hives.

There are currently several different forms of loratadine: tablets, liquid-filled capsules, syrup, and chewable tablets (for children). For people who have trouble swallowing regular loratadine tablets, orally disintegrating tablets are also available. The medication is typically taken once or twice the day, depending on the particular product.

Most people tolerate loratadine well, but as with all medications, side effects are possible. In clinical studies, some of the most common side effects that were reported with this antihistamine included drowsiness, dry mouth, and fatigue.
