Lofibra Side Effects

Several side effects or complications may occur with the use of Lofibra. Side effects include chest congestion or difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, back pain, and headache. While most side effects are minor, certain problems should be reported to your healthcare provider immediately, such as unexplained muscle pain, fever, or bleeding that takes longer to stop. Other rare but possible Lofibra side effects include infections, high blood pressure, and dizziness.

An Introduction to Lofibra Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Lofibra® (fenofibrate). However, not everyone who takes Lofibra will experience side effects; in fact, most people tolerate the drug quite well. If side effects do occur, they are generally minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or a healthcare professional. In previous research studies, up to 5 percent of people taking Lofibra stopped their medicine because of side effects.

The use of Lofibra has been associated with a rare but serious side effect known as rhabdomyolysis (serious breakdown of muscles). Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if accompanied by a fever or unusual tiredness (see Lofibra and Muscle Pain).

(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Lofibra. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list of Lofibra side effects with you.)
