Levoxyl® (levothyroxine sodium) is a prescription medicine approved for treating a wide variety of thyroid problems, including an underactive thyroid. It is a synthetic version of a certain type of thyroid hormone in the body. Levoxyl, which is available in 12 different strengths, comes in tablet form and is typically taken once a day. You should talk to your healthcare provider before taking it if you have adrenal insufficiency, osteoporosis, or any heart problems.
