Levoxyl® (levothyroxine sodium) is a manufactured version of a certain type of thyroid hormone. It is a prescription medication approved for treating an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) and various other thyroid problems, including some forms of thyroid cancer. Levoxyl comes in tablet form and is available in numerous strengths, ranging from 25 mcg to 300 mcg. Some of the side effects that have been reported with this drug include feelings of a rapidly or forcefully beating heart, rapid heart rate, and high blood pressure.
