Levora Interactions Explained
The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when
Levora is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Aminoglutethimide (Cytadren)
Taking Levora with aminoglutethimide may increase your risk of unintentional pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider before using these medications together. You may need to use a backup method of contraception (such as condoms).
Antibiotics
There have been reports of accidental pregnancy occurring in women taking
birth control pills together with certain antibiotics. It is still uncertain how significant the interaction between birth control pills and antibiotics may be. Some antibiotics are more likely to cause problems than others. Ask your healthcare provider if you need a backup method of contraception any time you take an antibiotic.
Aprepitant (Emend)
Aprepitant may make Levora less effective, perhaps increasing your chance of pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider before using these medications together. You may need to use a backup method of contraception.
Barbiturates
Barbiturates may cause your body to metabolize the hormones in Levora too quickly, increasing your risk of pregnancy. Ask your healthcare provider if you should use a different method of contraception while taking a barbiturate.
Cyclosporine (Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune)
Levora may increase the level of cyclosporine in your blood, increasing the chance of side effects of cyclosporine. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Your cyclosporine dose may need to be reduced, or you may need to switch to a different method of contraception.
