Leuprolide acetate (Eligard®, Lupron®, Lupron Depot®) is a prescription hormone medication used in men, women, and children to decrease the production of testosterone (in males) and estrogen (in females). It comes in the form of an injection and is approved to treat many different conditions, including advanced prostate cancer, early puberty, and endometriosis. The drug is generally well tolerated, but side effects may include hot flashes and fatigue, among others.
