Leuprolide Acetate and Fibroids

If you have uterine fibroids, your healthcare provider may recommend a medication called leuprolide acetate (Eligard®, Lupron®, Lupron Depot®). The leuprolide product approved for the treatment of fibroids (as well as endometriosis and other conditions) is Lupron Depot. It is available in one-month and three-month forms, and the dosage your healthcare provider recommends will depend on the particular form used.

The recommended length of treatment of leuprolide for uterine fibroids is up to three months. If treatment beyond three months is desired, your healthcare provider will need to check your bone health before continuing your prescription.
