More Detail on Interactions With Ketorolac
Aspirin
Taking aspirin and
ketorolac together can increase your risk of experiencing serious side effects. If you are taking aspirin, make sure to discuss this with your healthcare provider before starting ketorolac therapy.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
Do not take ketorolac with other
NSAIDs. Doing so can increase your risk of experiencing serious side effects. If you are taking another NSAID, let your healthcare provider know before starting ketorolac therapy.
Warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven) or Heparin
If you are taking blood thinners, such as warfarin or heparin, while taking ketorolac, your body may metabolize them differently than intended and increase the risk of serious bleeding. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your INR and prothrombin time more frequently and adjust accordingly. INR and prothrombin time are tests used to measure how well your blood is clotting.
Probenecid (Benemid, Probalan)
Do not take probenecid and ketorolac together. Taking ketorolac and probenecid together can increase your risk of experiencing serious side effects. If you are taking probenecid, make sure to discuss this with your healthcare provider before starting ketorolac therapy.
ACE Inhibitors (Accupril, Lotensin, Vasotec, Altace, Zestril, Prinivil, Monopril, Capoten)
Using ketorolac with ACE inhibitors may increase the risk of kidney damage. If you are taking an ACE inhibitor, make sure to discuss it with your healthcare provider before starting ketorolac therapy.
Diuretics (Torsemide [Demadex], Furosemide [Lasix], Hydrochlorothiazide)
Ketorolac may reduce the activity of diuretics. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these drugs.
