Ingenol Mebutate Dosage

Your specific dosage of ingenol mebutate will depend on the area of the body being treated. If you are treating actinic keratosis lesions on the face or scalp, dosing guidelines call for the 0.015% gel applied once daily for three days. When treating the trunk or extremities, use one tube of the 0.05% gel on the affected areas once daily for two days.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Ingenol Mebutate

The dose of ingenol mebutate (Picato®) your healthcare provider recommends will largely depend on which area of the body is being treated. As is always the case, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Ingenol Mebutate Dosing Guidelines for Use on the Face or Scalp

The standard recommended ingenol mebutate dosage for actinic keratosis treatment of the face or scalp is ingenol mebutate 0.015% gel applied once daily for three days in a row. One tube contains a single dose; discard any leftover gel, and use a fresh tube for each dose.

Skin reactions should be expected. Sometimes, these reactions can be quite severe. If it is important to you, you may want to try to schedule treatment during a time when you do not need to appear in public much for several days in case you have a severe reaction. This is often less of a concern for use on other areas of the body, which can be hidden with clothing or would otherwise be less noticeable. It is probably best to avoid covering up the areas with cosmetics, as this could irritate the skin further.

The standard dosage of ingenol mebutate for treating actinic keratosis on the trunk or extremities (arms and legs) is ingenol mebutate 0.05% gel applied once daily for two days in a row. One tube contains a single dose; discard any leftover gel, and use a fresh tube for each dose.

It's important to note that the higher concentration is used on the body, while the lower concentration is used on the face and scalp.
