Halcinonide

Halcinonide is licensed for the treatment of various skin problems, including dermatitis, psoriasis, and eczema. This prescription skin medicine is a steroid, and works by reducing inflammation and suppressing an overactive immune system. It comes as an ointment or a cream, and is applied directly on the affected areas of the skin two or three times a day. Side effects include skin burning, itching, and dryness.

What Is Halcinonide?

Halcinonide (Halog®) ointment and halcinonide cream are prescription skin medications. They belong to a group of drugs known as topical steroids and are used to treat inflammation and itching due to a wide variety of skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and allergic reactions.

Are There Side Effects?

Just like any medicine, halcinonide may cause side effects.
 However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
 
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
 
Common side effects of halcinonide include but are not limited to:
 
  • Burning
  • Irritation
  • Itching
  • Dryness.
