Halcinonide Dosage

With halcinonide, your dose will depend on the type and severity of the skin condition being treated. In general, a small amount of the medicine will be applied on the affected areas two to three times daily. Your healthcare provider may also recommend covering this medicine with a dressing to improve the absorption and effectiveness.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Halcinonide

The dose of halcinonide (Halog®) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending mostly on the type and severity of the skin condition being treated. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Halcinonide Dosing Guidelines for Skin Conditions

The standard dose of halcinonide for treating itching or inflammation due to a wide variety of skin conditions (such as psoriasis, eczema, or atopic dermatitis) is a thin layer applied to the affected area(s) of the skin two or three times a day. Gently rub the medication into the skin, being careful not to damage the irritated area. Wash your hands after applying the medication, unless you are treating your hands.
Your healthcare provider may recommend covering the medication with a dressing. Ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist for a recommendation on which type of dressing to use. Using a dressing might help improve the drug's effectiveness, but it also increases the risk for halcinonide side effects.
Ask your healthcare provider exactly how long you should use halcinonide. If no improvement is seen within two weeks, talk with your healthcare provider about a different treatment approach. Long-term use (more than a few weeks) increases the risk for serious adverse reactions.
