Who Should Not Take Gemfibrozil?

You should not take gemfibrozil if you have:
 
  • An allergy to gemfibrozil, Lopid, or any of the inactive components used in making gemfibrozil. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • Severe liver disease or abnormally high liver enzymes.
     
  • Severe kidney disease.
     
  • Pre-existing gallbladder disease or gallstones.
