Gemfibrozil (Lopid^®) is a prescription drug approved to treat high cholesterol and triglycerides. It can also be used to reduce a person's risk of developing coronary heart disease if they have low HDL levels ("good cholesterol") and high LDL levels ("bad cholesterol") and triglycerides. Gemfibrozil comes in tablet form and is taken by mouth twice a day.
