The recommended starting dosage of
fluvastatin for children (ages 10 to 16) with
high cholesterol is fluvastatin 20 mg once a day. If your child does not reach his or her

side effects of fluvastatin occur. The maximum daily fluvastatin dosage for children is fluvastatin 80 mg.
General Information on Dosing With Fluvastatin
Some considerations for people taking fluvastatin include:
- Fluvastatin sodium comes in a capsule. Fluvastatin extended-release comes in a tablet.
- The capsules should be taken with the evening meal or right before bedtime. If you are taking two doses per day, the other dose can be taken in the morning. The extended-release tablets can be taken at any time of the day.
- To maintain even levels of the medication in your body, make sure to take it at the same time(s) each day.
- It does not matter if you take fluvastatin with or without food.
- Swallow the capsule or tablet whole with a drink of water.
- For fluvastatin to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. Fluvastatin will not work if you stop taking it.
- If you are unsure about anything related to fluvastatin or dosing with fluvastatin, please talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking fluvastatin without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.
