Fluticasone Propionate Ointment

Conditions like allergic dermatitis, seborrhea, and eczema are often successfully treated with fluticasone propionate ointment. This product is applied to the affected areas twice daily on a short-term basis (no longer than four weeks). Most people tolerate it well, but side effects are possible, such as burning, redness, or irritation at the application site.

What Is Fluticasone Propionate Ointment?

Fluticasone propionate ointment (Cutivate Ointment®) is a prescription skin medication. It is a topical steroid that is used to treat a wide variety of skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and allergic reactions.

Are There Side Effects?

As with any medicine, fluticasone propionate ointment may cause side effects.
 However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
 
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
 
The most common side effects of this medication include:
 
  • Itching
  • Burning
  • Redness.
