Fluticasone propionate ointment (
Cutivate Ointment®) is approved to treat several skin conditions that cause inflammation, such as eczema, allergic dermatitis, and seborrhea. The medication is approved only for adults; however, children can use it in an "
off-label" fashion in certain cases.
When using fluticasone propionate ointment, it should be applied sparingly -- more is not better. In addition, do not apply a bandage or other dressing, as this increases the risk of potentially serious side effects.
