Fluocinonide Cream Dosage
When using fluocinonide cream, your dose will mainly depend on the type and severity of the skin condition being treated. In most cases, it is recommended to apply a thin layer onto the affected areas of the skin one to four times daily. If you do not notice an improvement within two weeks, contact your healthcare provider about other possible treatment options.
An Introduction to Your Fluocinonide Cream Dose
The dosage of fluocinonide cream (Lidex®, Vanos®) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending mostly on the type and severity of the skin condition you are treating. As is always the case, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.Dosing for Fluocinonide 0.1% Cream
The standard dose of fluocinonide 0.1% cream (Vanos) for treating psoriasis is a thin layer applied twice daily for up to two weeks. For treating atopic dermatitis, Vanos is typically used just once a day, for up to two weeks. For all other uses, apply a thin layer once or twice daily, for up to two weeks, as directed by your healthcare provider. In all cases, it is not recommended to exceed two weeks of treatment. Also, do not apply more than 60 grams (half of a 120-gram tube) per week. Using too much Vanos, or using it too long, increases the risk for serious side effects (see Vanos Side Effects).
Vanos is approved for use in children age 12 and older; it has not been adequately studied in younger children. Vanos is a highly potent steroid, and young children are more likely to absorb too much of this medication, perhaps leading to serious side effects. If such treatment is necessary for a child, a milder, less potent steroid would probably be more appropriate.
