Fluocinolone Shampoo
Fluocinolone shampoo is a medicated shampoo that is available by prescription only. It is approved to treat seborrhea of the scalp. This product is applied to the scalp once a day; it is worked into a lather, left on the scalp for up to five minutes, and then rinsed off. Common side effects may include acne, dryness, and folliculitis.
Fluocinolone shampoo (Capex®) is a prescription skin medication approved to treat seborrhea. It belongs to a group of medications known as topical steroids.

Just like any medicine, fluocinolone shampoo may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
Some of the common side effects of steroids such as fluocinolone shampoo include:
- Dryness
- Inflammation of skin follicles (folliculitis)
- Acne.
