People with seasonal
allergies may benefit from fexofenadine (
Allegra®), a prescription antihistamine product. The medication has been shown to help relieve common
allergy symptoms, such as itchy eyes or throat, runny nose, and sneezing.
There are several different forms of fexofenadine: oral solution, tablets, and orally disintegrating tablets. Fexofenadine oral suspension and orally disintegrating tablets can be used in children as young as six months old, while the regular tablets are typically used in adults and older children. The medicine is typically taken once or twice a day.
You should talk to your healthcare provider before taking this medication if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, have kidney disease, or are breastfeeding. It is also important to tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking, in order to help prevent drug interactions.
