Dosing With Fexofenadine

Your prescribed dosing with fexofenadine will depend on factors such as age, other medical conditions you have, and other current medications. The recommended fexofenadine dosage for adults (and children 12 years old and over) with seasonal allergies or chronic hives is 60 mg twice a day or 180 mg once a day. For children 6 to 11 years old, a fexofenadine dose of 30 mg twice a day is recommended.

Fexofenadine Dosage: An Introduction

The dose of fexofenadine (Allegra®) your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:

  • Your age
  • The severity of your symptoms
  • Other medical conditions you have
  • Other medications you are currently taking.

As always, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

Adults and Children 12 Years and Over
For adults and children 12 years old and over with seasonal allergies, the recommended fexofenadine dose is fexofenadine 60 mg twice a day or fexofenadine 180 mg once a day.

If you have kidney disease or are over age 65, your healthcare provider may start you on a lower dose of fexofenadine, such as fexofenadine 60 mg once a day.
