Precautions and Warnings With Fexofenadine and Pseudoephedrine

There are many important precautions and warnings with fexofenadine and pseudoephedrine to be aware of, including serious side effects to look out for. Before starting the medication, be sure to let your healthcare provider know if you have overactive thyroid, glaucoma, liver or kidney disease, or enlarged prostate. Certain people should avoid taking fexofenadine and pseudoephedrine, including those who are allergic to any components of the drug, are taking an MAO inhibitor, or have severe high blood pressure.

 

What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk to your healthcare provider prior to taking fexofenadine and pseudoephedrine (Allegra-D®) if you have:
 
Also let your healthcare provider know if you:
 
  • Are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Have any allergies, including allergies to fexofenadine and pseudoephedrine, Allegra®, Sudafed®, or adrenergic medicines.
     
Also, tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you may be taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, antacids, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
 
Finally, make sure to contact your healthcare provider or call an ambulance immediately if you experience any difficulty breathing or swallowing.
