Drug Interactions With Ezetimibe

Among the drugs that can potentially interact with ezetimibe are other fibrates (such as gemfibrozil), warfarin, colesevelam, and fenofibrate. Drug interactions with ezetimibe can change how your body metabolizes the drugs and alter the levels of ezetimibe in your blood, among other things. For example, taking ezetimibe along with cholestyramine can decrease the level of ezetimibe in your blood, which can affect its ability to lower cholesterol. Taking ezetimibe along with fenofibrate, on the other hand, can raise the level of ezetimibe in the blood and can cause problems in people with gallbladder disease.

In these cases, other cholesterol-lowering medicine may be recommended.
