Ezetimibe/Simvastatin Dosage

General Information on Dosing With Ezetimibe/Simvastatin

Some considerations for people taking ezetimibe/simvastatin include the following:
 
  • The medication should be taken in the evening. You can take ezetimibe/simvastatin with or without food.
     
  • To maintain even levels of the drug in your body, make sure to take your dose of ezetimibe/simvastatin at the same time each day.
     
  • For ezetimibe/simvastatin to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. The medication will not work if you stop taking it.
     
  • Remember that lowering cholesterol begins with lifestyle changes (weight loss, low-cholesterol diet, exercise). If lifestyle changes alone do not lower cholesterol to a desirable level, medication such as ezetimibe/simvastatin may be necessary. However, even for people who are taking cholesterol medication, lifestyle changes are still important for maintaining a good cholesterol level.
     
  • If you are unsure about anything related to your ezetimibe/simvastatin dose or dosing in general, talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking this medicine without first talking to your healthcare provider.
