Effects of Etoposide

Most people who receive treatment with etoposide will develop some type of side effect from the drug. Extensive clinical trials have shown that some of the most commonly reported reactions to this drug include:
 
  • A decrease in white blood cells
  • Hair loss (alopecia)
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Loss of appetite.
 
As with other chemotherapy drugs, etoposide can also cause serious complications that require immediate medical treatment. Contact your healthcare provider right away if you are undergoing treatment with this drug and develop seizures, any signs of an infection, or yellowing of the whites of the eyes or skin.
