Drug Interactions With Errin

Several medications can cause drug interactions with Errin, including barbiturates, modafinil, aprepitant, and numerous seizure medicines. Many of these interactions can be serious enough to cause unintentional pregnancy, so it is a good idea to use a backup method of birth control if you are ever unsure about any Errin drug interaction until you can speak with your healthcare provider.

An Introduction to Errin Drug Interactions

Errin® (norethindrone) is a generic version of Ortho Micronor®. It can potentially interact with several other medicines. Many of these interactions can be severe enough to lead to unintentional pregnancy, and a backup method of birth control may be recommended in many cases. Although many women are aware that antibiotics can interact with birth control pills, there are other medications that interact with Errin as well. Some of the medicines that may lead to Errin interactions include:

  • Aminoglutethimide (Cytadren®)
  • Antibiotics
  • Aprepitant (Emend®)
  • Barbiturate medications, including, but not limited to:

    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Primidone (Mysoline®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
