Peginterferon Alfa-2b Drug Information

Peginterferon alfa-2b® (PegIntron®, Sylatron®) is a drug prescribed to treat hepatitis C (for PegIntron) or malignant melanoma (for Sylatron). This medicine is available as an injection that is given just under the skin once a week. It is used for up to 48 weeks when used for treating hepatitis C, or for up to five years when used for treating melanoma.
 
Although the drug is generally well tolerated, it is not suitable for everyone. Before using peginterferon alfa-2b, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on your medical history and a list of your current medications. In particular, let your healthcare provider know if you have diabetes, lung problems, or depression.
