Lenalidomide Drug Information

A healthcare provider may recommend lenalidomide (Revlimid®) to adults who have certain bone marrow diseases. This medicine is specifically approved for use in people who have myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a group of conditions in which the bone marrow does not make enough healthy blood cells. It is also approved for use in combination with dexamethasone to treat multiple myeloma (cancer of plasma cells) in people who have already tried at least one other treatment.

To reduce the risk of complications, review the drug's safety information with your healthcare provider prior to beginning treatment with lenalidomide. For instance, women should not take this medication while pregnant, as it can cause severe birth defects and even fetal death. In addition, most people will develop some type of side effect with this medication, such as fatigue, diarrhea, or a rash.
