Ingenol Mebutate Information

Adults who have a skin condition known as actinic keratosis may receive a prescription for ingenol mebutate (Picato®). This medicated skin gel is only used once daily for two or three days, depending on the area of the body being treated.
 
Ingenol mebutate is applied on the precancerous lesions that form on the skin, and works by killing the cells of these lesions. Most people who use this medicine will develop some type of skin reaction, such as redness, flaking, or swelling
 
Before using ingenol mebutate, review the drug's safety information with your healthcare provider. For example, you may not be able to use this medicine if you have certain allergies, or if you have a sunburn or other skin problems.
