Desonide Lotion Information

A doctor may prescribe desonide lotion (DesOwen®) to treat poison ivy, eczema, or other skin conditions. The medication is a steroid that helps control inflammation and itching.

While most people do not have any problems while using this drug, desonide lotion is not suitable for everyone. For example, you may not be able to use it safely if you have certain allergies or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This medicine may also cause negative reactions with certain drugs, so make sure your healthcare provider is aware of all other medications, vitamins, and supplements you are taking.

Desonide lotion is applied to the affected areas of the skin two to three times a day. Potential side effects of this medicine may include skin irritation, such as burning, stinging, or dryness.
