Cyanocobalamin Nasal Spray Information

If you have low vitamin B12 levels, your healthcare provider may recommend a medication called cyanocobalamin nasal spray (Nascobal®). This prescription nasal spray is sprayed once in one nostril once a week. It is used to help maintain adequate vitamin B12 levels in people with pernicious anemia and also to boost vitamin B12 levels in people who are deficient in this specific vitamin.

Although most people tolerate the medicine well, side effects are possible and may include headaches, nausea, and a lack of energy.

To help reduce potential problems with cyanocobalamin nasal spray, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on your medical history and any other medications you are taking. Also, let him or her know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
