Canakinumab Drug Information
Canakinumab (Ilaris®) is prescribed for treating cryopyrin-associated periodic syndromes (CAPS), a group of rare genetic conditions that cause inflammation in the body. It is given as an injection just under the skin (subcutaneously) once every eight weeks, and works by blocking the action of proteins in the body that cause inflammation. It is approved for use in adults and children as young as four years old.
