Cabozantinib Drug Information

As a type of chemotherapy, cabozantinib (CometriqTM) is approved to treat medullary thyroid cancer. It is used when the cancer has progressed and spread to other areas of the body (metastasized). This drug is approved for use in adults only.

Cabozantinib comes as capsules that are taken once daily. Your individual dosage will depend on how well you tolerate the medicine, other medications you are taking, and various other factors. Side effects are common and may include diarrhea, weight loss, and mouth sores.

If your healthcare provider recommends chemotherapy treatment with cabozantinib, he or she will need information on your medical history and any other drugs, vitamins, or supplements you are using. You should also talk to your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or have any allergies.
