Bosentan Drug Information

Adults age 18 and older may receive bosentan (Tracleer®) to help treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). This medicine can help improve physical activity and slow down the progression of the condition.

Although most people who use this medicine tolerate it fairly well, side effects are possible. Some of the potential side effects include headaches, swelling, and respiratory tract infections. Fortunately, most reactions to the drug tend to be mild and easy to treat.

While this drug can be effective at treating PAH, bosentan is not appropriate for everyone. Information on your medical history should be reviewed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize your risk for certain complications. This includes warnings for people who have anemia, those with liver disease, and women who are pregnant or nursing.
