Belatacept Drug Information

Belatacept (NULOJIX®) is prescribed to prevent organ rejection following a kidney transplant in adults. The drug is injected intravenously (through an IV) by your healthcare provider.

Belatacept works by weakening the immune system so that your body does not reject the new kidney and attack it. Your dosage will depend on how much you weigh. This medication should only be used in people who are immune to the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV).

Although it may be an effective drug, not everyone can use it. Information on belatacept should be discussed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize risks and to help ensure safe treatment. For example, you may not be able to use this medicine if you have certain types of cancer, if you are taking certain medications, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
