Antivert® (meclizine hydrochloride) is approved for treating vertigo and preventing and treating motion sickness. It is available with a prescription to treat vertigo and motion sickness and without a prescription for treating motion sickness only. Antivert comes in the form of tablets and is typically taken once or twice a day.
Although most people do not have any problems while taking this drug, Antivert is not suitable for everyone. For instance, you may not be able to safely use this medicine if you have certain medical conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease, heart disease, or asthma. You also may not be able to take it if you are currently taking certain products (including some vitamins, herbal supplements, and non-prescription medications).
