Adapalene (
Differin®) is a prescription drug used to treat acne. It is currently available in brand-name form only. This retinoid medicine comes in the form of a gel, cream, and lotion, and is applied once daily (just before bedtime).
Before starting treatment with adapalene, tell your healthcare provider if you are taking any other medications (including nonprescription drugs, vitamins, and supplements); also, let him or her know about any other medical conditions you have.
Most people tolerate this medication well. When side effects do occur, they are generally mild and are easily treated. Some of the common side effects reported with adapalene include redness, scaling, and dry skin.
