Doxylamine and Pyridoxine Side Effects

When doxylamine and pyridoxine was given to pregnant women during clinical trials, the most common reaction was drowsiness. Fortunately, most women who use this medicine tolerate it fairly well. Serious side effects with doxylamine and pyridoxine are possible, however, and may include falling down, severe drowsiness, and allergic reactions. Contact your healthcare provider if you develop anything that doesn't seem right while taking this drug.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Doxylamine and Pyridoxine

As with any medicine, doxylamine and pyridoxine (Diclegis®) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects

Doxylamine and pyridoxine has been studied extensively in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occurred in a group of women taking doxylamine and pyridoxine were documented and then compared to the side effects that occurred in a similar group of women taking a placebo (a "sugar pill" with no active ingredients).

In these studies, drowsiness was the most common doxylamine and pyridoxine side effect, occurring in up to 14.3 percent of women.
