Doxylamine and Pyridoxine Dosage

The specific dosage of doxylamine and pyridoxine your healthcare provider prescribes will mainly depend on how you respond to the medication. The starting amount is usually two tablets at bedtime. However, if this does not adequately control your nausea and vomiting, you can also take one tablet in the morning and one in the mid-afternoon.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Doxylamine and Pyridoxine

The dose of doxylamine and pyridoxine (Diclegis®) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on how you respond to the medication. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Recommended Doxylamine and Pyridoxine Dosing Guidelines

The recommended initial doxylamine and pyridoxine dosage for treating nausea and vomiting of pregnancy is usually two tablets at bedtime. If this dose adequately controls your nausea and vomiting, continue taking two tablets at bedtime as your regular dose.

If your symptoms continue into the afternoon of day 2, take two tablets at bedtime that evening, and then increase your dose on day 3 to one tablet in the morning and two tablets at bedtime. If this dose adequately controls your nausea and vomiting, continue taking one tablet in the morning and two tablets at bedtime as your regular dose.

If, however, your symptoms persist, increase your dosage on day 4 to one tablet in the morning, one tablet in the mid-afternoon, and two tablets at bedtime.

The maximum recommended doxylamine and pyridoxine dosage is four tablets a day, taken as one tablet in the morning, one in the mid-afternoon, and two in the evening. Talk to your healthcare provider about other options if this does not adequately control your symptoms.
